Petition launches to reverse government plans to abolish holiday lets tax regime

James Varley, CEO and founder of Holiday Cottage Handbook (pictured above), has launched a petition to reverse government plans to abolish the furnished holiday lettings tax regime.

The petition has received over 600 signatures in under 48 hours, with the company aiming to hit 10,000.

It has been approved by the UK government's petitions committee, and at 10,000 signatures, the government is compelled to act.

"I would like to thank everyone who has signed and shared the petition so far; every little helps," said James.

"Thank you for your support and please join us in standing up for this great industry!"

During this year's Spring Budget, chancellor of the exchequer Jeremy Hunt has announced plans to abolish the furnished holiday lettings (FHL) tax regime, starting from 6th April 2025.
