Property developer and contractor Torsion Group has secured a £50m GDV BTR scheme in Birmingham which fell into administration two years ago.
Following the acquisition, Torsion Group’s delivery arm, Torsion Construction, has now commenced works on site following seven months of working with developer Hadrian Real Estate.
AM Alpha will provide funding for the scheme, while Glancy Nicholls has been chosen as the architect firm.
Once completed, the Westminster Works scheme will deliver 220 flats — a mix of one- and two-bedroom apartments — and will incorporate several sustainability features, including MVHR, solar photovoltaic panels, and green roofs.
Residents will have access to a range of amenities, including a concierge service, 24/7 security, gym and smart technology.
The BTR scheme is expected to be completed in early 2026.
Dan Spencer, CEO at Torsion Group, said the scheme reaffirmed the company’s ongoing confidence in the market and continued the firm’s growth in the Midlands.
“We understand that investors need a construction partner that can help them capitalise on the positive trends within the BTR sector, and our teams are now focussed on delivering this flagship development in Birmingham.”
Keith McDougall, operations director at Hadrian Real Estate, said: “We are expecting high demand for Westminster Works because of its proximity to the city centre.
“We are really excited about what this development means for this up-and-coming area of Birmingham.”
