RSH slams management of Rentplus Homes

“Serious failings” found at small for-profit landlord

The Regulator for Social Housing (RSH) has slammed the management of Rentplus Homes, finding “serious failings” in how the small for-profit landlord was run.

Rentplus Homes manages 283 homes and reported a turnover of £1.05m for the year to 31st December 2025.

RSH has found that the landlord has been unable to “effectively” respond to increasing risk which has impacted its ability to protect its social homes.

Rentplus Homes was added to RSH’s gradings under review list in August, following responsive engagement triggered by a self-referral to RSH in June 2026.

The self-referral concerned the administration of RPA1 Limited, a Rentplus group entity that owns approximately 68% of the homes managed by Rentplus Homes.

Rentplus Homes is now facing significant liquidity pressures and is seeking to develop and implement plans to safeguard tenants’ homes from its viability risk.

“Landlords must regularly assess and test their governance arrangements to make sure they are fit for purpose,” said Jonathan Walters, CEO at the RSH.

“But Rentplus Homes has failed to do this, which has had serious implications for its financial resilience and ongoing viability.

“Although Rentplus Homes is taking steps to manage emerging risks, it has not yet provided a credible route to resolve them at the pace we expect.

“We have serious concerns about this case, and are considering further regulatory intervention.”
