BTL sales rise 32% in 2015

Buy-to-let (BTL) mortgage sales rose 31.6% in 2015, according to a study of the intermediary marketplace by Equifax Touchstone.

 Buy-to-let (BTL) mortgage sales rose 31.6% in 2015, according to a study of the intermediary marketplace by Equifax Touchstone.

 
The market intelligence provider said BTL sales were up by almost a third compared with a 20.3% increase in mortgage sales. 
 
Equifax Touchstone, which covers 92% of the intermediated lending market, said the average value of a BTL mortgage was £156,646 in 2015, a 6.8% increase on the £146,564 seen in 2014. 
 
Iain Hill, Relationship Manager at Equifax Touchstone, said: “We believe that the market will grow again in 2016, despite the uncertain economic conditions.
 
“With several lenders joining or returning to the market and many products ranges being expanded, it looks like it is going to be a very exciting start to 2016.”
