The National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) has launched its manifesto ahead of May’s Senedd elections.
The manifesto sets out how the group wants all political parties to support the PRS in Wales, helping renters access the quality homes they need.
This includes calls to make no further changes to tenure legislation, that might deter investment and reduce supply, while making targeted efforts to eradicate unsafe practices through proper enforcement.
Specifically, the NRLA is urging Wales’ next government to introduce measures to tackle fuel poverty. This would include removing barriers to improving current stock energy efficiency and using the tax system to incentivise instead of penalise.
The NRLA is also calling the next government to follow through on its promise to introduce a Welsh Housing Survey which would better inform future policy decisions.
“Our manifesto is clear: Wales needs policies designed to build a better and thriving housing environment for all,” says Ben Beadle, CEO at the NRLA.
“Plans that do not encourage investment, overregulate or exclude the needs of responsible landlords to provide much needed housing for renters are doomed to fail.”
