Over 80% of landlords see section 21 removal as negative says Property Redress Scheme

Just over four-fifths of landlords (80.5%) saw the abolishment of Section 21 negatively according to data from the Property Redress Scheme sentiment survey for 2023.

The report went on to say that the response reflected concerns of losing a key tool for property management and terminating a tenancy where needed.

Agents also responded with 71.9% saying they disagreed with the proposed changes — according to the report, this suggested agents valued the flexibility of section 21 in managing tenancies, with its removal limiting their operational effectiveness.

The report gathered thoughts and opinions of 2,700 landlords and agents in the private rented sector.
